e-mail from Yolanda and Matt, New York Hello, I just had my first tamale today at the farmer's market and I am already thinking how can I get these in New York? Would you ever ship them? If not, what is the best way to carry them or have a friend buy them and send them... (I am already thinking ahead!) please let me know. There isn't anything like this in our food underprivileged city!

Letter from Joshua Eisenberg, San Francisco Unified School District School Health Programs Department, San Francisco, California Dear Shirley, My name is Joshua Eisenberg. I am a Site Nutrition Coordinator for SFUSD School Health Programs Department. I am writting to convey my appreciation for the wonderful experience you and your staff provided one of my classes. This is an instance where a light human touch made a difference and provided for positive change. My program goal is to increase the likelihood that low income children will eat 5-9 servings of fruit and vegetables a day and be physically active. One of the components of this program is to take kids to farmers markets and kitchens to imbue them with a connection to agriculture and food production. On Novemeber 18 you gave tamales to a group of 2nd and 3rd graders from George Moscone Elementary. Thank you for going out of your way to make the children feel welcome and excited to try a new food, by using humor and speaking with them in a child appropriate manner. You're to be highly commended for taking time from a busy market day to inspire children to eat more healthfully. The children are still excited from our trip and just before our break gave me the enclosed card made with trip photos. Thank you again for the opportunity to visit! |

Letter from Donna in San Anselmo, California "Hello Donna's Tamale people! My children spotted your product and we have really enjoyed it! The fresh ingredients make it a scrumptuous meal. I can't eat just one serving though. I pig out on 2! You have fans in our family!"

Letter from Trisha in Pacifica, California Dear Donna, "I have recently rediscovered your wonderful tamales after moving away from Marin County. I found them at Whole Foods in Palo Alto. I used to get them from you at the Marin Farmer's Market, and they were always my highlight. Thank you for being so specific in your ingredient list. A simple thing like vinegar, if the type of vinegar is not listed, means a Celiac can't touch it. Celiac Spruce is a gluten intolerance; no wheat, oats, barley, rye, nor any of their byproducts - even the tiniest amount. By the way, that Straus white cheddar is really good, I'll look for it in my health food store Your tamales are one of the few prepared foods that I can indulge in. I belong to three local support groups and would love to let other Celiacs know where they can buy your tamales. We have groups in Petaluma, Oakland, and Los Gatos. We have monthly meetings which are educational as well as social, and end with a big potluck luncheon. There are 200 people on the Oakland group's mailing list alone. I plan on bringing some regardless because I like them so much! Thank you for having such a terrific product. Please know you have avid fans!"

Letter from Sharon in San Rafael, California Donna, I wanted to THANK YOU so much for the wonderful tamales. They were a hit for our house warming party. The tamales were a great party food. I was able to visit with my friends while the tamales were steaming and didn't have to fuss with a barbeque or the oven. My friends were raving about the tamales and I was sure to let them know where to find you. Some people recognized your name from the Farmers Market. I hope that I can refer my friends to you in the future. Thanks again,
